چکیده
Abstract Modality is a generic concept of wave-optics at the basis optical information and communications. One challenges photonics technologies based on orbital angular momentum consists in production modal content for both azimuthal radial degrees freedom. This basically requires shaping complex amplitude an incident light beam, which usually made up from adaptive spatial modulators or bespoke devices. Here, we report experimental attempt recent theoretical proposal [ Opt. Lett. 42 , 1966 (2017)] toward various vortex modes Laguerre–Gaussian type relying spin–orbit interaction light. done visible domain elements out silica glass. The idea exploiting combined effects azimuthally-varying geometric phase with that radially-varying propagation features. proposed approach can be readily extended to any wavelength as well other families modes, although some dynamic problems remain solved make it turnkey technology.

Beam-shaping optics delivers high-power beams
The development of laser diodes that deliver more than 10 W of output has changed the picture of the laser market. High-power devices now offer many advantages over conventional lasers of similar power levels, such as carbon dioxide or lamp-pumped Nd:YAG lasers. Their high efficiency (>30% wall-plug efficiency) promotes compact size as well as simplicity in power supply and cooling, which make ...

Applying of the refractive beam shapers in real research optical setups as well as in industrial installations requires very often manipulation of a final laser spot size. In many cases this task can be easily solved by using various imaging optical layouts presuming creating an image of a beam shaper output aperture. Due to the unique features of the refractive beam shapers of field mapping ty...

We demonstrate the feasibility of strong (up to atomic fields) and super-short (fewor even sub-femtosecond) sub-cycle (non-oscillating) electromagnetic solitons -EM bubbles (EMBs) in a gas of two-level atoms, as well as EMBs and pre-ionization shock waves in classically nonlinear atoms. We show that EMBs can be generated by existing sources of radiation, including sub-picosecond half-cycle puls...

Glasses are usually shaped through the viscous flow of a liquid before its solidification, as practiced in glass blowing. At or near room temperature (RT), oxide glasses are known to be brittle and fracture upon any mechanical deformation for shape change. Here, we show that with moderate exposure to a low-intensity (<1.8×10(-2) A cm(-2)) electron beam (e-beam), dramatic shape changes can be ac...
